If you’ve found this page, congratulations, you’ve stuck around long enough for a quick background check on the creator of all this madness.
My name is Aubrey Eyre (aka Aubreyreland, EYRELAND, and ACE).
For the sake of my online persona and presence, I have many names by which I might be called. You can take your pick from the above.
I’m not in the habit of putting my whole life online in detail — because hello, ever heard of privacy? — but a quick summary never hurt anyone, I suppose … so, here it goes:
Born and raised in Salt Lake City, UT.
Yes, that means I like to snow ski, water ski, hike, mountain bike, climb, and spend a great deal of time in what some might refer to as ‘God’s country,’ aka. the great outdoors.
I did my undergraduate degree in Seattle, WA and I got my master’s degree from a little-known university in the UK called Oxford. I wanted to study Anthropology in the place where the discipline was born (so sue me if you think that’s pompous).
Because I studied in those places, I have a mild obsession with rowing. I tend to think it is one of the greatest sports ever created. I also think it is absolutely miserable to do, but also it’s just the best feeling ever. It’s a bit of a love-hate relationship.
I’m also mildly obsessed with traveling and I kind of just want to do it all the time.
I have the diet of a five year old child — fries, cheese quesadillas, sandwiches, and pizza are my favourite foods, in that order. My hair is naturally very blonde and I’ve grown to love it. I think Trader Joe’s is possibly the happiest place on earth — followed closely by Disneyland, obviously — and when I am sad, I sometimes talk to myself in various accents to help cheer myself up.
Journalism is my profession, but like almost all writers, I too have a dream of one day writing the next great American novel … I just haven’t started it yet.
So, yeah, that’s me in a nutshell.
